How do I specify fire-resistant glass?

Specification of fire resistant glass depends upon many factors, including

  • Pane size (width x height)
  • Vertical or sloping
  • Internal or external
  • Single, double or triple glazing
  • Frame construction (e.g. timber, steel, etc.)
  • Fire resistance period (e.g. 30, 60, 120, etc., mins)
  • Integrity only or integrity and insulation

The Pilkington Specifire tool available on our website allows you to input the above information and generate a product specification for fire-resistant glass, including a link to the available test evidence, showing maximum panes sizes, frame construction, glazing method, etc.  To access Specifire, please click here.
